Enemies of the People - London PremiereMarch 21, 2010 - March 23, 2010
Following on from its success at the Sundance Film Festival (World Cinema Special Jury Prize for Documentary) and Santa Barbara
(Best Documentary & Fund for Santa
Barbara Social Justice Award
), Oxford-based film director Rob Lemkin and Cambodian co-director Teth Sambath will be in the UK for the London premiere of their acclaimed documentary Enemies of the People.
The film follows the project of journalist Thet Sambath, whose parents were among the estimated two million people who perished under the Khmer Rouge regime in the late 1970s. Over a period spanning several years, Sambath set out to meet the people who committed the atrocities, and little by little was able to develop a remarkable relationship with ‘Brother Number Two’ Nuon Chea. This ultimately lead to some unique confessions from the former ideological leader, now 83.
Enemies of The People received post completion support from Screen South.
