Kidnet

As part of Screen South ’s Olympic offer we are partnering Kent County Council to run Kent Kidnet 2012 . Kidnet is a web based film making facility that will engage the young people in an online International Community of Young Storytellers, providing a fantastic opportunity to realise the international element of the Games, for young people here in our county.

The project has formed part of the early work of the Kent Campaign for the 2012 Games , and a partnership campaign to maximise the benefits and legacy to Kent off of the back of London staging the Games. Each of the three groups of young people from Folkestone and Canterbury Schools as well as the Kent Youth Forum, have worked with professional film makers to establish a concept, storyboard, film, direct and edit their own short films inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The Kidnet screening took place at Cineworld Ashford on Tuesday 13th November. It was a huge success with numerous people attending, including the UK Film Council's Cheif Executive John Woodward and many young people from Channel School, Canterbury High and Kent Youth Forum. The young people involved all received certificates presented by Mike Hill , Cabinet Member for Communities KCC, Jo Nolan , Chief Executive of Screen South, and Anna Home , Chair of Kidnet.
